Today you will learn about the best man that ever lived. We already know that the prophets were the best from all the people. But our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) was the best from all the prophets. He was the most special person chosen by Allah.

Our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) is the best and his story is also the best from all the prophets! By reading his story, we will learn how the best person ever lived!

The First Muslims

After our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) became a prophet, something very important happened. Angel Jibrail (ʿalayhi s-salām) came and made water come out of the ground. Jibrail (ʿalayhi s-salām) did wudhu to show our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) what to do before salah. Then Jibrail (ʿalayhi s-salām) taught him how to pray salah. Our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) copied him and learnt how to pray.

When he came home, he taught Khadijah (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhā) what he learnt and they both prayed.

Calling His Family to Islam

When our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) became a prophet, he started to tell his family to accept Islam.

The first person to accept Islam was his wife Khadijah (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhā).

Then Ali (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhu) who was the cousin and living with our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) became a Muslim. He was only 10 years old when he became a Muslim.

Then Zayd (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhu) became a Muslim. Zayd (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhu) was the slave and was freed by our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam).

Abu Bakr (r.a.)

When our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) finished telling his family, he started to tell his friends. The first person he told was Abu Bakr (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhu). He was our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam)’s closest friend.

Without even thinking, Abu Bakr (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhu) listened and became a Muslim. He stayed and helped our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) until the end of our Prophets life.

Our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) started calling other people to Islam. Many people listened and became Muslims.

When a lot of people had become Muslims, everyone started to gather in the house of Arqam (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhu). They would do this secretly so no one found out.

Calling Everyone to Islam

For 3 years, our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) called people to become Muslims secretly.

After 3 years, Allah told our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) to openly tell everyone about Islam. Allah did want our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) to keep it a secret anymore.

Telling the People of Makkah

When our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) was ordered to call everyone to Islam, he went to Mount Safa. He stood on it and called all the families of Quraysh.

When they all came, he said to them, “If I was to tell you that there was an army behind this mountain and they are going to attack you, would you all believe me?”

All the people said, “Of course we will believe you. You have always said the truth and you have never lied.”

Then our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) said, “I am warning you of a punishment from Allah.”

When Abu Lahab who was the uncle of our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam), heard this, he got angry and said, “Is this why you called us here!”

Even though Abu Lahab was the uncle of our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam), he was not happy when he saw that Islam was spreading.
