Today you will learn about the best man that ever lived. We already know that the prophets were the best from all the people. But our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) was the best from all the prophets. He was the most special person chosen by Allah.

Our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) is the best and his story is also the best from all the prophets! By reading his story, we will learn how the best person ever lived!

The First Journey to Shām

Our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) was now living with his uncle Abū Tālib. His mother Āminah and grandfather Abdul Muttalib had passed away.

Abū Tālib wanted to go to a place called Shām to do some business. He wasn’t going to take our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) with him, but when he saw how upset he was, he took him with him.

The Monk

They reached a place in Shām where a Christian monk was living. A monk is a religious person who worships Allāh all his life. He promises never to do anything wrong. The name of the monk was Bahīrah.

Bahīrah had read about the last prophet that was going to come. He knew the signs that were written in books about the last prophet.

When our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) came with his uncle and the other people from Makkah, Bahīrah saw the face of our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) and knew he was the last prophet.

Whenever other people would come past Bahīrah, he would never come out of his house to see them. But this time, he knew that someone special was coming, so he came out to see.

When all the people walked past Bahīrah, he looked at everyone. When our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) came, he held his hand. He said, “This is the leader of all the people. This is the person Allāh has sent as a prophet.”

All the people asked Bahīrah how he knew that he was a Prophet. Bahīrah said, when you were all coming, all the trees and stones bowed to him. He said that trees and stones only bow to prophets.

Making Food for Everyone

Bahīrah made food for everyone that came. When the food was ready, everyone came except our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam). Bahīrah asked them where he was? They told him that he was looking after the camels. He told them to call him.

When our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) came, there was a cloud following him and giving him shade from the hot sun.

All the people were sitting under the shade of a tree and there was no space for our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam). So our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) went to sit on the side of the tree. A soon as he sat, the tree moved its branches towards him to give him shade. Bahīrah said to everyone, “Look! The tree moved to give him shade.”

He told the people that it was not safe for our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) to go.

Looking for Our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam)

Suddenly, Bahīrah saw seven men looking for something.

He asked them, “What are you looking for?”

They said, “We are looking for a prophet. We have read that he will go on a journey this month. We have sent men everywhere to look for him.”

Bahīrah asked them, “If Allah has planned to do something, can anyone stop it?”

They all said, “No.”

Bahīrah explained to them that when Allah plans for something happen, then no one can do anything about it. No one is strong enough to change what Allah has planned. He was trying to tell them that Allah has planned that a prophet will come, so no matter what you do, you will never be able to hurt him.

They understood what Bahīrah was telling them. They promised that they would stop looking for our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam).

We should also remember that Allah is the Most-Powerful. If Allah wants something happen then even the strongest and most powerful person in the world cannot do anything.

If Allah wants something good to happen to you, then even if all the people in the world try to make something bad happen, they will not be able to.

Going Back to Makkah

Bahīrah went back to the people and asked them who was in charge of our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam).

All the people pointed at Abū Tālib. Bahīrah told Abū Tālib to take our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) back to Makkah because it was not safe. He told him that people would find out that he is a prophet and try to hurt him. Abū Tālib listened to what Bahīrah told him and sent our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) back to Makkah.
