Our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) is the best and his story is also the best from all the prophets! By reading his story, we will learn how the best person ever lived!

Āminah and Abdul Muṭṭalib Pass Away

After the amazing story of the splitting of the chest, Ḥalīmah left our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) with his mother Āminah in Makkah.

When our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) was six years old, his mother took him to Madīnah. A woman called Umm Ayman also came with them.

Āminah stayed in Madīnah for one month and then started going back to Makkah.

Āminah Becomes Ill

On the way back, Āminah fell ill. They stopped at a place called Abwa. After a little while, Āminah passed away.

Umm Ayman, who was with them took our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) back to Makkah. She gave him to his grandfather, Abdul Muttalib.

Abdullah, who was the father of our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) had passed away before he was even born. Now when he was only six years old, his mother also passed away.

In the Care of Abdul Muttalib

Now our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) was going to be looked after by Abdul Muttalib. Abdul Muttalib was the grandfather of our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam). Abdul Muttalib loved our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) very much. He would keep him close to him wherever he would go.

When Abdul Muttalib used to go to the Ka’bah, he had a special chair which no one would sit on. Even his children would be scared to sit on it. But when our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) would come, he would sit on it and not be scared. Everyone would tell him to move away, but Abdul Muttalib would tell them to leave him. Abdul Muttalib would watch our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) and become happy.

Our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) stayed with his grandfather, Abdul Muttalib for two years. When our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) was eight years old, Abdul Muttalib passed away.

Our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) was eight years old and he lost both his parents and his grandfather.

In the Care of Abū Tālib

Before Abdul Muttalib passed away, he told his son Abū Tālib to look after our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam). He told him love him and be very kind to him. Abū Tālib was the uncle of our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam).

Abū Tālib looked after our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) more than his own children. Even though he was very kind to our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam), he did not become a Muslim.
