Ḥaḍrat Mawlānā Bashīr Aḥmad FayḍAbādī writes that, one Ramadhan which Shaykh-ul-Islam Mawlānā Ḥusain Aḥmad Madanī spent in Tanda, Uttarpradesh, was during the hot summer days, and a time when there was a severe heatwave. There were scores of guests arriving every day.
The household members and close associates of Ḥaḍrat Madanī suggested that due to the severe heat coupled with Ḥaḍrat’s ill-health, it is best that Ḥaḍrat eats something sweet at the pre-dawn meal.
Hearing this, Ḥaḍrat Madanī instantaneously said, “My guests eat bread and soup while I eat a sweet dish? If arrangements can be made for the guests, then I will also eat; otherwise, I will not eat alone.”
In the end, the household members decided to serve different types of sweet dishes to all the guests.
