Doctor Ismail Memon relates that there would always be scores of guests day and night at the khanqah (spiritual convent) of Shaykh-ul-Ḥadīth Ḥaḍrat Mawlānā Muḥammad Zakariyyah. Especially in the blessed month of Ramadhan, there would be a lot more people. If Ḥaḍrat Shaykh would ever find out that a guest was deprived from partaking of food, he would be severely disturbed. Consequently, news of this nature reached Ḥaḍrat Shaykh, due to which he was left in tears. He profusely wept the entire day and repeatedly said, “If tomorrow, on the Day of Judgement, I were to be asked as to why your guest slept the night in hunger, what answer would I give?
